This one’s a barnburner! Click now to watch James and his crack band strut through “Steamroller Blues”, a classic cut from the 1970 album, Sweet Baby James, in this footage from the music program, Ohne Filter, which aired on German television station SWF from 1983 to 2001.
Written by James’s friend Carole King for her 1971 album, Tapestry, James released his version of “You’ve Got A Friend” that same year on his album Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon.

Originally recorded by Marvin Gaye in 1965, James had a top five hit with his version of “How Sweet It is (To Be Loved By You)”, released a decade later on his 1975 album, Gorilla.

First appearing as part of the Tony-nominated musical, Working (along with “Millworker”), James recorded “Brother Trucker” for his 1979 album, Flag. This performance is from a 1987 episode of Ohne Filter, recorded the year before at SWF-Studio in Baden-Baden, Germany.

Originally released as the opening track on James’s 1975 studio album, Gorilla, “Mexico” has become a staple of his live shows over the years (performed nearly 700 times as of this month according to Setlist.fm!)
