Tanglewood postponed

Message from James

I’m disappointed and frustrated to have to announce the postponement of my August 31 concert at Tanglewood. The Tri-Town Health Department has put a limit on audience size this summer. No more than 9000 people will be permitted to attend any concert. At this point, more than 15,000 people have bought tickets for our August show and trying to organize the displacement of over 6000 ticket holders is an impossible task: who loses their seat and how do we accommodate them? After the postponement of last summer’s concert, the decision to limit audience size this way is indeed disappointing because it forces this further postponement. We acknowledge and support the Tri-Town Health Department’s responsibility to protect our citizens’ well-being but it’s frustrating to have to ask you to wait until the 4th of July next year…

Tanglewood and James announced today that the James Taylor and Band concert currently scheduled for August 31, 2021 has been moved to July 4, 2022. This change is due to new regulations put in place by the Tri-Town (Lenox/Stockbridge/Lee) Health Department which limits the capacity of public gatherings to no more than 9000 persons. James supports the Tri-Town Health Department’s decision and its concern for the safety of Tanglewood’s patrons. (For more detail on the Tri-Town Health Department’s mandate, please see this article on BerkshireEagle.com.)

Tickets purchased for the original date will be honored on July 4, 2022. Ticket buyers are encouraged to hold onto their tickets, but please reach out to your point of purchase should you prefer a refund, or to donate your tickets back to Tanglewood. If you have any questions please reach out to James’s team.
