James duets with Scottish singer, Karen Matheson, on the traditional folk classic “Wild Mountain Thyme”, in this performance taken from the 1997 edition of Hogmanay, BBC Scotland’s annual New Year’s Special. James would later record this song for his 2015 album, Before This World.

Recorded live on March 27, 1986 and broadcast on German public television station SWF the following year, the 90-minute show sees James and his crack band performing hits and fan favorites like “Carolina In My Mind”, “Your Smiling Face”, “Everyday”, and “Steamroller Blues” (to name just a few!) in front of a studio audience.
