Major League Baseball announced earlier this week that James Taylor will sing the National Anthem at Game 2 of the World Series, tonight October 24. James, a loyal Sox fan, has made singing the anthem before game 2's at Fenway a winning tradition. The Sox went on to win both games that he opened in 2004 and 2007. James will also sing "America The Beautiful".

Carole King will be honored as the 2014 MusiCares Person of the Year on Jan. 24, 2014, it was announced today by Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the MusiCares Foundation and The Recording Academy, and Bill Silva, Chair of the MusiCares Foundation Board.

In March this year singer-songwriter and guitarist (and he is an excellent guitarist) James Taylor turned 65 years old, born three years after the end of World War II. His music would influence successive generations, but his biggest impact was on baby boomers. In a metric of his music's influence and impact, Taylor’s Sweet Baby James album would be listed at #103 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003, with the song "Fire and Rain" listed as #227 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time the year after.
