Save The Children @ 100!

James had the privilege of participating in Save The Children‘s “Centennial Celebration: Once in a Lifetime” gala in Los Angeles last week. Hosted by actress, Jennifer Garner, the event included the presentation of the Centennial Award by Oprah Winfrey to Disney Chairman & CEO, Bob Iger. Celebrating a century of making change for children!

“Brother Trucker”

A blast from the past: James’s performance of “Brother Trucker”, here excerpted from PBS’ 1982 television adaptation of the musical, Working. James contributed the songs “Brother Trucker” and “Millworker” to the musical and later included both on his 1979 album, Flag.

Working is the 1974 Stephen Schwartz/Nina Faso musical based on Studs Terkel’s book, Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do.

Save The Children: The Centennial Celebration

On October 2, James will take part in Save The Children’s “Centennial Celebration: Once in a Lifetime” gala event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA. Hosted by Jennifer Garner, the night will honor Robert A. Iger, Chairman/CEO of the Walt Disney Company Chairman. The gala will also feature appearances by Oprah Winfrey and the Amani Children’s Choir.

Surprise! Newport Folk Festival with Sheryl Crow

50 years ago last week, Newport Folk Festival Founder George Wein walked onstage during James’s July 20, 1969 concert to announce that men were walking on the moon. Last weekend, James motored by boat with Kim, Henry and Rufus to surprise Sheryl Crow fans with an impromptu appearance.
